How do misting systems work?
Misting systems work by forcing water through a specialized nozzle to produce ultra-fine water droplets into the air surrounding target areas that require cooling. Heat is absorbed by the moisture as it changes from liquid to vapor during the evaporation process and thus creates a cooling effect. A properly installed mist system creates a curtain of mist around all open-air sides of a structure. Mist cooling can reduce temperatures by as much as 30°F depending on the efficiency of the misting system, relative humidity, and outdoor temperature.
What is the difference between a low and high pressure system?
Low pressure misting systems operate on city water pressure (ranging from 30-85 PSI). The low pressure systems generally spray the water and do not have the power to create the fine mist for improved cooling. Aero mist high pressure rigid misting system is affordable, constructed from copper or stainless steel, commercial grade, capable of handling pressure up to 1000 PSI, offer superior longevity and have the aesthetics that a homeowner can truly be proud of. The capability to upgrade your low pressure misting system with a 1000 PSI pump and achieve maximum cooling makes this the last mist system you will ever need to buy.
Starting your pump for the first time.
When you are starting you pump for the first time or getting ready for the misting season again after the winter, make sure the pump is placed on a hard level surface. Check to make sure the filter is in the blue housing and it is clean. Connect the water source to the pump and then connect the high pressure tubing to the pump. You are ready to plug the pump into the outlet and turn the pump on. If you are not seeing mist coming out of the nozzles within 15-30 seconds, there may be an air pocket in the pump head. Turn the pump off, loosen the gauge to release the air pocket, tighten the gauge back up and turn the pump on. You will get mist. If by chance you are not, please re-check all of your tubing and fittings to make sure there are no leaks. You are now ready to enjoy the cool mist!
How many misting nozzles can I run on my pump?
A larger misting system may require a larger pump. Please refer to pumps section under parts and accessories for specifications on the number and types of nozzle each pump can maintain.
Can I install a system myself?
Yes. Misting systems come with easy to follow step by step instructions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call our customer service department.
Where should I install the mist line?
The mist line should be installed on the bottom outer edge of the structure. Direct the nozzles away from the patio at about a 45 degree angle. This will create a curtain of mist around the surrounding area you wish to cool. If you install the mist line underneath your structure, realize that there will not be enough air flow to evaporate the mist and your furniture, floor and windows will get wet.
